News: Chicken Wing Franchises
Wild About Wings
There's
Just Something About Wings!
Chicken
wings, oh how we love thee! Let me count
the ways.
Let’s
see, there’s Sweet-Chili Glazed,
Crispy Curry, Cumin Marinated, Thai-Style
Broiled, Jamaican Jerk, Chinese Five-Spice,
Ginger Soy, Deviled, Fried, Hot-n-Sour,
Tequila Lime and, of course, Buffalo.
When
was the last time you went to a tailgater
or a cocktail party where there wasn’t
some kind of wing concoction waiting to
tempt your snacking palate? We have a
love affair with chicken wings and we
savor them in every style. Almost every
ethnic cuisine has perfected at least
one version of the classic chicken wing
appetizer.
But,
why limit wings to a finger-licking mini
meal? If you have a passion for wings,
and are looking to fly with a new franchise,
spread your entrepreneurial wings with
one of the following businesses.

Buffalo
Wild Wings Grill and Bar
Buffalo
Wild Wings Grill & Bar is
more than your run-of-the-mill wing joint.
Much more! The company has spiced and
sauced its way into becoming one of the
Top 10 fastest-growing restaurant chains
in the U.S. Buffalo Wild Wings
Grill & Bar is a sports and
entertainment bar that just happens to
give wingmasters 12 signature sauces from
which to choose. Its modified wait-style
menu also features salads, appetizers,
burgers and a variety of specialty items.
But, back to the wings. Buffalo
Wild Wings Grill & Bar has
earned the “Best Wings” title
in such wing-savvy places as Cincinnati,
Minneapolis, Indianapolis, Chicago, Louisville,
Cleveland and Las Vegas.
There
are more than 250 company-owned and franchised
Buffalo Wild Wings Grill &
Bar restaurants in 29 states.
Buffalo Wild Wings is currently looking
to develop franchises in 91 markets in
26 states.
Wing
Zone
You’re definitely in the zone with
Wing Zone. This 13 year
old restaurant franchise boasts 25 flavors
of wings including the traditional mild,
medium, hot, hotter and nuclear, as well
as signature sauces like garlic parmesan,
honey mustard, hot honey teriyaki, Cajun,
lemon pepper, spicy BBQ and teriyaki.
Wing
Zone is the brainchild of Matt
Friedman and Adam Scott who were desperate
for something other than a late-night
pizza to be delivered to their University
of Florida fraternity. Since necessity
is the mother of invention (and business
concepts) Wing Zone was
developed in 1991 to help fill the pizza-saturated
late-night campus delivery market. It
wasn’t long before Friedman and
Scott moved out of their fraternity house
kitchen and had six stores to their credit.
The WZ Franchise Corporation
was soon founded and the company headquarters
moved to Atlanta.
While
Wing Zone doesn’t
do pizza, it does feature a whole host
of other menu items including half-pound
burgers, chicken sandwiches with one of
the 25 Wing Zone sauces,
chicken-topped salads and a range of spicy
appetizers and classic wing-complementing
side dishes. Wing Zone is
a take-out/delivery only company. None
of the franchise locations offer eat-in
dining. Wing Zone looks
for franchisees who want to open locations
in urban and college-campus locations
and are willing to provide late-night
delivery services to their customers.
Wingstop
With a focus on its proprietary sauces and
seasonings, superior customer service, evenings-only
hours of operation and unique interior decor,
Wingstop has become a definite
"landing spot" for serious wing
fans. Wingstop, based in
Garland, Texas, focuses its energies and
talents on perfecting Buffalo-style chicken
wings with some innovative Wingstop
twists. The menu features mild,
original hot and atomic wings as well as
Hawaiian barbeque, lemon pepper, garlic
parmesan, Cajun and teriyaki versions.
Wingstop
takes its own spin on the word
“wing” by decorating its franchises
with aviation in mind. Make that vintage
aviation! Wingstop is
also concerned about the well-being of
its franchisees. The company doesn’t
want anyone suffering from burn out (especially
when hot wings are involved) so it suggests
limiting weekday hours of operation from
4 p.m. to midnight. The restaurants offer
both take-out and dine-in service. After
staring with nine franchise locations
in 1999, Wingstop locations soared to
116 in 2003. The company is looking for
franchisees to develop Wingstop
restaurants throughout the U.S. The company
does offer exclusive territory deals.
