Best
Cities for Budding Businesses
Location!
Ubicacion! Emplacement!
Where
you operate your franchise is
just as important as what type
of business you decide to launch.
Some metro areas are much more
hospitable to new and small
businesses than others. According
to the 10th Annual "Best
Cities for Entrepreneurs"
ranking from Dun & Bradstreet
and Entrepreneur Magazine, the
Minneapolis/St. Paul region
topped the charts vaulting to
No. 1 from 15th place on the
2002 list. While the Twin Cities
may be "middle of the road"
when it comes to new entrepreneurial
activity (58 out 100 possible
points), the area scored big
when it came to employment growth
(96 points) and economic stability
(93 points) for its existing
small businesses.
Washington DC, last year's top
town, rang in at No. 2 this
year.
Rounding out the top ten regions
were Atlanta, Fort Lauderdale,
Salt Lake City/Ogden, Utah;
West Palm Beach/Boca Raton,
Florida; Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Newport
News, Virginia; Miami; Charlotte/Gastonia/Rock
Hill, North Carolina and South
Carolina and Orlando Florida.
