Inventory Specialists®
THE
REVOLUTION WILL BE ... VOICE ACTIVATED
Throughout
history, revolutions have brought an abrupt
end to the status quo and shaped the future.
Now AccuTrak Inventory
Specialists® is starting
a revolution in the inventory industry
with VoTrak Inventory System, its
new voice activated system.
"We
will revolutionize the way inventories
are done!" announced Judi Perrin,
president and co-founder of AccuTrak,
as she unveiled the cutting-edge voice
activated auditing equipment recently.
AccuTrak is an inventory auditing and
consulting business with franchises across
the United States and abroad.
VoTrak
Inventory System (VIS), the mobile data
input equipment, enables auditors to take
inventories by wearing a headset and speaking
into a 3" wide, 8" long and
1.5" high machine.
"We
are the only inventory company currently
that has voice activated equipment,"
Ms. Perrin said. "By eliminating
keying errors this equipment enables 100%
accuracy," she added.
The
new equipment, created in partnership
by Sage Systems Technology and Compsee,
is designed to make auditing faster and
more accurate, said Billy Graham, who
co-founded Compsee in 1980. Compsee specializes
in integrating software and hardware to
solve end-user business problems.
"When
you combine this software with this hardware,
you achieve a user-friendly automatic
data collection system that has the newest
technology in voice recognition,"
said Ed Cole, president of Sage Systems
Technology. Mr. Cole has been in the data
collection business for 25 years and with
Sage Systems Technology for 13. Sage Systems
Technology served as Compsee's software
partner for this project.
The
light-weight equipment consists of voice
recognition capabilities, a full-color
screen, an alpha-numeric keypad and a
headset jack. Features of the new equipment
include the following:
Ease
Of Use
"You
can train someone to use this equipment
in 15 minutes," Ms. Perrin said.
She expects the equipment to help franchise
owners find qualified employees. The amount
of keying experience required to master
the KeyTracker equipment currently used
to take inventories" limits the number
of qualified auditor candidates,"
she said. Because the new equipment relies
on vocal cues more people will be qualified
to work as auditors.
Versatility
"With
most voice recognition equipment the user
has to train the mobile device to his
or her specific voice. The novel feature
is that with ours there is no training
needed," Mr. Cole said. "It
has a 100% recognition rate regardless
of who is talking into it."
This
aspect is especially important in the
inventory industry, which sees a high
employee turnover rate, Mr. Graham said.
"When you're done taking an inventory,
you can just turn [the equipment] over
to the next person."
Work
Flow and Accuracy Tracking
"This
equipment can measure a person's actual
work flow," Mr. Cole said. The equipment
date and time stamps every transaction,
scan or input. This enables team leaders
to monitor auditors' workflow. "You
can know what time they left an aisle,"
he said. The team leader also would be
able to contact the auditor over the headset
to tell him or her that he or she is lagging
behind on productivity, or missed something
and needs to recount, and so on.
Technologically
Advanced
Because
of technological advancements, this equipment
is capable of providing and storing more
information than the current KeyTracker,
Ms. Perrin said. Currently, to determine
variances, the KeyTracker is capable of
going back only one job.
The
new equipment will have the capability
to store every detail of the inventory
indefinitely. This feature enables auditors
and clients to compare inventory data
for an extended period of time. "We
will be able to provide small businesses
with data that has only been available
to large companies until this time,"
said Vince Perrin, AccuTrak
co-founder.
AccuTrak's
ultimate goal as a business is to raise
the bar for the entire inventory industry's
standards, thereby improving inventory
procedures and awareness. The Perrins
believe this equipment will do just that.
VIS
is slated to be in AccuTrak
auditors' hands in early 2004.
